Saturday Classics
The Saturday Classics Series Subscription includes ten concerts in the 2018 - 2019 Spokane Symphony Season. All Saturday concerts are at 8pm.
Join us for the 2018-19 Classics Series as we celebrate our beloved Maestro Eckart Preu’s last season! The classics programming will include some of Preu’s personal favorites, including Beethoven's "Eroica" Symphony, and the return of guest artists: Alon Goldstein, piano; Silver-Garburg, piano duo; Nebojša Jovan Živković, percussionist and, of course, the symphony’s beloved concertmaster, Mateusz Wolski, whom Preu as described as one of the world’s best violinists.
This season, you will also experience concerts conducted by each of the five Music Director finalists. Morihiko Nakahara conducts celebrated violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn, owner of the legendary 1720 Red Violin, performing “Chaconne” from the film, The Red Violin, in Oct. 2018. The remaining finalists include: James Lowe conducting works by Liszt and Brahms in Feb. 2019; Rei Hotoda conducting works by Korngold and Shostakovich in March 2019; Arthur Arnold conducting works by Saint-Saëns and Bartók in March 2019; and Jayce Ogren conducting works by Prokofiev and Mussorgsky in April 2019. The series concludes with Eckart’s farewell concert featuring Richard Strauss’ monumental Alpine Symphony. This is a season you won’t want to miss!
