Spokane Youth Ballet is proud to present Summer Concert 2019, an evening of two one-act ballets that audiences of all ages will enjoy. First, the students of the Academy of Dance will perform “The Seasons,” a charming love story set to the music of Alexander Glazunov. A young man lost in the forest makes his way through the four seasons, encountering magical beings and forest creatures as well as the beautiful Princess of Summer. Following “The Seasons,” Spokane Youth Ballet will premiere “Sleeping Rosa,” a contemporary ballet that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty set in Spanish Harlem. After falling out with her friend, the titular Rosa’s life is endangered in this blending of reality and fantasy. Both ballets feature guest artist Benjamin Tucker of Nevada Ballet Theater.
